This past week or so, I have been re-establishing a new pattern to my daily life.
I had a lot of planned big projects for my yard and quite a few costly upgrades required for my home/car. Now all are completed (or waiting for growth for the yard) and vendors paid. Some of that went on credit cards…the bigger costs. Now I am in the mode of being conservative with my spending until those are paid off…hopefully by the end of the year.
And, already, I am seeing other things inside the home to do next. At the present time, those will be 2027 projects, like replace the laminate floor in kitchen and dining room, new cabinet doors for the kitchen, a backsplash chosen and installed…and maybe hire a company to do deep kitchen cleaning (oven, particularly).
Now I am learning how to add music, incense and candles into my life. I was nervous about incense around my dog, but I am burning it on the two days that she is at doggy daycare each week. I am also burning candles…and have added background music of guitar instrumentals and smooth jazz found on You Tube. And the music chills my dog out so that she relaxes even during a thunder storm when she would normally hide. And I love the soft music, too. Something about no words…just melody and pictures of nature.
As a result, I have also found myself tackling those many piles things as well as making decisions about stuff that has accumulated throughout the house. The stack of newspapers that I used to used to build fires…and haven’t for several years, the pile of magazines I do not read, the stack of stuff that ended up covering the dining room table, the CDs I still haven’t gotten rid of, and lots more. Stuff that ended up on countertops in the kitchen, the dining room, the computer room, the utility room, my bedroom and even the guest bed! All has been removed.
I still have boxes and a stack of stuff in the dining room to go through and make decisions about, but all the other areas are straightened up and removed to elsewhere as needed. Filing of papers done. Some items went out to the workbench in the shed. Other items were repurposed or discarded. Some were simply put where they belonged.
As a result, my home is neater. It smells nicer. And the ambiance has improved.
And my spirit/soul is quieter. I no longer have all that noise running through my mind…all that worry. I am more at peace. And, that is a good place for me to be.
