New Year’s Day

Well, today is the start of 2023. A new year. A year of possibilities and dreams.

And, to start off this new year, I am hosting a cheese tasting party with wine.

Now, it is not that big of a deal as only my Leather house was invited…and it consists of only 5 people including myself. But, one has been called into work (she is a nurse) and another won’t be able to come until after work (she gets off at 5:30). So, if the party starts at 5p, there will only be two other people and myself at it.

I am a bit disappointed as I bought cheese from five foreign countries, wine and sparkling water, and fruit for this cheese-tasting. I am thinking that there will be a lot of all of it left over.

Then I also made soup. Now those leftovers I will eat…well, also the cheese and the rest of it.

Still this is the first of these that I have ever attempted, so it will be a good thing to see how it goes off.

I was plenty nervous that I would not get everything done. But it is now 3:45, and I am ready. Oh, I have to take the cheese out at 4 (an hour before the party) to let it warm up. But that won’t take long.

So, this is one of my community goals of asking someone to join me in doing something. A party that I host counts.

UPDATE:

The party of 3 started off as a party of 2 as another of the expected guests was sick, so I made a call to my neighbor friends, who graciously came over. We had a blast trying the cheeses and drinking wine. And…they even enjoyed the soup and bread afterwards. Toward the end, the one person who was supposed to come after work called. She had worked later than expected. I told her to come on. So we re-did the whole evening with her…the neighbors had left. Another good time!

I don’t know what I was so concerned about. We all…including me…had a blast!
