Checking In

This is a follow-up to my prior post to share my accountability, since one of the weaknesses that I noted is failure to follow-through long-term on plans. I realize that it has only been about two months since that last post, so this report is not actually proof of long-term f/u, but it is encouraging to me.

Regarding the journaling: I haven’t even tried to do any meditating. I have continued recording my intentions along with what my calendar plans were for the day. And, sometimes I would even record additional actions or in-actions for that day.

Regarding walking 5 miles per week: I have continued to walk. Several walks in the past month have totaled around 7+ miles, which is encouraging to me. At this rate, I will meet my goal in September!

I have joined a gym and engaged in small group weight exercise twice a week for 3 weeks and then tried yoga once a week. I will take a break in April due to travel, but I have already committed to the small group twice a week starting again in May as well as individual exercise and will continue with yoga classes once or twice a week. I am also contemplating trying pool therapy, although I am a bit shy about wearing a swim suit.

I have continued Hungryroot, but I will be taking a break while traveling. I like the food and ease of preparation. However, since one meal makes enough for two, I often have enough food for 2-3 meals. I anticipate that, as summer arrives, and fresh food is more easily available through the farmer’s market, I may not continue with the subscription.

I have had checkups with my dentist and PCP and have an appointment set with my optometrist for next month. That covers all my medical providers. The dentist I see every 6 months. The other two are now once a year each. My mammogram and lab work was all good with the exception of elevated LDL cholesterol. My PCP, however, supports my new exercise and diet plans and says that I do not need medication for my LDL level since my HDL level is high. And that is great!

As for the photography: I have caught up on the photography book that I had started last year to the place where application activities are. Now to actually try out various shots. My first roadblock was a decreased battery and difficulty finding the battery charger. Today I was able to locate that charger, so on I go!

In addition, I have started a garden. Some plots are needing preparation for planting. Others are in process of growing. Things to do.

I am starting my day with a brief prayer and ending it with the same…and finding that my spirit is enhanced with appreciation for the day and activities. I am also finding that I am a bit more sensitive to recognizing negative self-talk and discovering ways to either forgive myself or reframing the thought.

All is good.
