Magic in our lives

My sister once made a remark about magic to the effect, at least as I took it, that it was not real. I beg to differ. I see magic everyday in my life, but I must admit that I have to look for it.

And, I bet you are wondering about this picture. Well, the camera could not capture the magic but this pic does make one ask why. This is a pine needle caught on the top by a strand of spider web suspending it from the tree. And, what is happening is that the breeze is making this pine needle dance!

Have you every watched a pine needle dance? It is beautiful and graceful and made me want to dance for joy also. Unfortunately, I am not an accomplished enough photographer to capture the thin silky thread nor to take a picture video of it all.

Yet this amateur photo recalls to me the moment I watched in awe as a pine needle danced.

So much of the ordinary around us contains a moment of magic if we only take the time to stop and look…and remember. Even people can create those moments, like when Ed walked up to me and held out his hand to dance. He was dying, but he wanted to dance one last time with me.

Those magical moments that bring us to G-d, that remind us of His hand in our lives, that can remind us of an unseen wish or hope, those are miracles.

May you have magic and miracles in your life…and the eyes to see them. And, may we all take the time to look and listen…and be open to the magic in our lives.
