Energy and projects

Recently, I looked around my home and found that there were lots of piles of stuff on bed, tables, chairs…rooms needing dusting (a chore I really do not like), rooms needing organizing, decisions to be made about things, and some projects to complete. And, then I realized that there were other things needing my attention or needing to be finished. Yikes! Immediately I was both overwhelmed and embarrassed.

It took me a couple of days ~ no, make that a week or so ~ to get at it. I dusted the dining room and the living room and cleaned the counters in the kitchen. These are rooms that others see and can habit when they come to my home. I cleared the sofa table of a lot of the magazines, although there are still a few remaining. I cleared the kitchen counters of some of the excess stuff stored out on them. And I began to attend to the dining room table piles. I vacuumed. I swept. And, I found that I felt better. I had more energy and more interest in getting things done.

I still have some magazines I intend to read near the lounge chair in the living room and camera stuff on the dining table. I am OK with those things in those places for now. I need to move the projects for the trailer outside to store in the trailer, repair the chimes, and make decisions about a few other things on the dining table, but, at least, now you can see the table.

I took all the papers, magazines and books piled on my king bed. I have filed some of the papers…a bit more to organize and file…and moved the magazines and books. I have put away all the laundry, sanitized the two pillows that I removed, and generally made the bed…my bed.

And, after several days, I got the refrigerator cleaned. And, finally got around to throwing out the olives that I will never eat…in the refrig over 3 years, at least! I learned what foods need to be in the high humidity crisper and which go in the low humidity one. Since then, I have eaten the last of things and made a salad of other veggies that needed to be cut. I have a comfort that what is in the refrig is good to eat and fresh. And, more energy obtained and stress released over a chore completion that needed to be done!

It is amazing to me ~ the connection between cleaning, finishing, procrastination and energy! Wow!
