So much to do, so little time

I am an inveterate list maker. Even when I do not put the items onto a piece of paper, I am making a list of things to get done in my head.

It is always a bit of a challenge to keep track of my many lists of things as I tend to forget that I have started a list and will grab a piece of paper and start a new one. Sometimes the different lists have the same thing on them, sometimes not. Some lists stay lost and hidden only to be found at a later date. It is a bit surprising to review what I thought I needed to do previously and find that I am still putting a similar item on my list.

This is the beginning of the HOLIDAY SEASON…Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s all within a couple of months. It is also the season of stress…and lists…and things to get done…and stuff.

Well, I am as susceptible to this season as others seem to be, even if I do not do some of the holidays.

A couple of months ago, I changed my TO DO LIST to an Opportunity List…things I could do at any time, things I did not want to forget. It included places to explore, things to buy, as well as stuff to do. The only problem with that was that some of my to-dos did not fit. Dusting to me is not an opportunity so much as a chore I dislike but need “to do” and it often ends up on a list because otherwise it would not get done…unless someone was coming to visit, that is.

I am thinking about starting a new list…a list of those things I want to try or do in the last two months of this year. I think I will put letters on it to people I want to thank for being a part of my life, cookies/bars I want to make to share with friends/family, plans I want to explore for possible inclusion in the new year, and maybe even decorations that reflect who I am and not just the season. And, I want to include time to Breathe…Just Breathe.
