Friends

Life is filled with people who intersect our lives.  Some stay for a long time, sharing our journey with us. Others touch only a small segment of our lives, briefly. And then there are those who come to teach us about a particular part of our path…who share their lives to allow us to gain the knowledge needed to move on in our own life…on our own journey.

Today I looked through a metal box where I keep important papers…looking for one important paper in particular. (I didn’t find it.) What I found was memories from long ago…and of a particular part of my life. It pleased me to reconnect with those memories.

This past weekend, I connected with the memories of others. I was at Leather History Preservation Weekend. The name of the conference should have told me what to expect. It didn’t. I knew it was about Leather History and remembering the history of the leather world. I didn’t know it was about listening to the real life people talking about their own journeys in life and leather. I didn’t know it would be about my own journey into who I am. I had no idea the impact that occurred in my own being.

Today I started posting everywhere…on FB, FetLife, Messenger…and here. And, everything I wrote turned out to be some aspect of this weekend on my life. I don’t know any better today than I did the day Ed died where my life will take me. But, I do know that family and friends are an important part of my life. And, I am very thankful for each and every one of them that allow me to share their life, even on the periphery.
